Town of Orleans

The Orleans Community
has a population of 2,273 residents... friendly and hospitable with hometown charm. Much like Mayberry, you will find one big family who enjoy a simpler way of life - with a strong work ethic and a wholesome, caring attitude. : )

The Dogwood Capital of Indiana - The dogwood tree is the trademark of Orleans, as
"Operation Dogwood," was launched in the mid 1960's with a goal of having hundreds of the trees planted along roads, in the historic town park square and in yards. The annual Dogwood Festival celebrates the town's beautiful Dogwood blossoms in Spring.

The Carnegie Library serves as the public library... built with a $10,000 grant from the Carnegie Foundation in 1915. This beautiful historic building houses an impressive
collection of material.

The Progress Examiner operates as the town's weekly newspaper.

The Orleans Community Schools serve over 860 students in two buildings K-6 and 7-12.The district provides an outstanding academic curriculum as well as a full program of music, art, drama, and athletics. This is all evident by the numerous State level championship awards in various academic fields.

The Orleans athletic department fully supports all of the sports programs for all grade levels, developing a sense of pride, dedication and teamwork that has warranted many team and individual athletic achievements.

A multi-million dollar renovation and addition was recently completed at both the Orleans Elementary and Jr./Sr. High Schools. The recent renovation project truly reflects the district's motto, "Pride, Tradition, Excellence".
